CouCou Syrah
The Boissan estate is located at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. One of the oldest vineyards in the region, established in the 17th century, Christian Bonfils is the fifth generation leading the estate. Owners Christian and wife Cathy Bonfils come from families of generational wines makers in Burgundy. Together, they have established a reputation for their exceptional wines with tireless efforts in organic farming and sustainable practices in the vineyard.
The CouCou Syrah is a blend of syrah from three plots of vines that include the famous Gigondas appelation. The blend was crafted by winemaker Victor Bonfis with sensoral guidance from 30.50 Imports' very own Nelson Abreu and Eric Gennaro. It's aged for a year in concrete tanks before being bottled. A nod to the north of the valley from the south.
CouCou is slang or an informal, affectionate way for close friends to say "Hi!" in French.
The inky purple juice is an indication of the concentrated blackberry and herbal aromas that emerge from the glass. Round, fresh and juicy on the palate supported by firm, integrated, fine tannins.
