Description
Attis Bodegas y Viñedos is located in the center of Val do Salnés, a small village located on the hillside of Mount Penaguda. The family-run winery owns and cultivates 5 hectares of vines divided into small plots located between 100 and 400 meters of altitude.
The vineyards for Xion Tinto are southwest facing, located at 100m above sea level and are planted to soils comprising granitic entisols (with strong sand and clay characteristics).
The grapes, Pedral, Sousón and Espadeira, are hand-harvested and carefully placed in 15 kg perforated boxes and are de-stemmed at the winery. Alcoholic fermentation takes place spontaneously in 500L open barrels. Maceration is completed over the course of 15 days; accompanied by two punch-downs daily. Malolactic fermentation is also carried out spontaneously. The wine is aged 12 months in French oak vats before it is fined, filtered and bottled.
Xion Tinto is produced in very limited quantities; approximately 4,000 bottles annually.

Taste
A refreshing and well-balanced blend of local grape varieties from Rías Baixas: Pedral, Sousón, Espadeiro. The wine is a deep, iridescent shade of purple; showing ripe notes of raspberry, strawberry and blackberry. The wine has a distinct cracked black pepper note, with underlying layers of black licorice, crushed violet flower petals, and a saline finish. The wine is dry, medium-bodied, with bright acidity; enjoy slightly chilled!
